Sad & Disappointed............

Well I did my part in attempting to get my niece. I called this morning but got no answer three different times. Her mother finally called me about an hour after my last attempted call, 3:30pm The agreement was that she'd drop my niece off at my house within an hour. So imagine my frustration at 4:30, no niece.......At 4:45 I called and she was still in house and her response was "Oh I was waiting for something to dry." She went onto to say she was about to leave the house, I told her never mind. She then asked if I wanted to come pick my niece up to which I responded naw, never mind. I told her she didn't respect my time and she wanted to know what I meant. A few more words were said, and then she raised her voice to say "I'm not gonna argue with you," my response "Don't" and I hung up.

So now I'm sitting home saddened that I won't see my niece this weekend.
Yeah I know my niece is the real victim in this, and I hate that she's caught up in the midst of mother's antics.

Back to the hieghts

I’m ecstatic, ABC Family’s popular show Lincoln Heights is back with for a third season. I think the show is a refreshing show about a modern day family and the issues they face. There’s a father who’s a cop, a mother who’s a nurse, two teenage daughters and a son.

Beginning September 16, every Tuesday night at 7 you can catch me front and center watching this show. Unfortunately we only get 10 episodes this season as opposed to the 13 episodes we had for season’s 1 and 2.

Brighter evening

My evening was brighten by a call from my niece.......I miss her so much I damn near cried.....I allowed her to talk and then I casually asked her a few questions here and there. I told her I saw my other niece today, and she was estatic. I asked her if she wanted to come with me this weekend and of course she was all for it. So I've arranged to pick her up Saturday morning and drop her off sometime Sunday. She'll attend the family gathering with me Sunday which is cool, since she hasn't met too many family members on my father's side.

I'm so happy......I'll rest easy and sleep well tonight knowing I'm seeing my niecey this weekend.

Roc marathon

TV-One is running a Roc marathon......and I've been laying around watching.....I saw Samuel L. Jackson on one of the episodes. I wonder if the show is available on dvd or why it's not. I use to love this show.

This day seven years ago I was on bed rest. I had been in a bad accident a few months prior that required I wear a medical halo for three months. I can't readily recall exactly what I was doing, but I vaguely recall watching the news and seeing the replay of the airplanes going into the buildings in New York, and then news came that the pentagon had been hit.

As I attempt to remember those fatal events that took place this time seven years ago, I can't help but to become emotional. So many lives lost, leaving a nation to forever mourn.

I won't forget, we can't forget.

To those that lost family members and/or friends, my heart and prayers are with you as you try to move on and past that day.

A letter to Mary

Dear Mary (mortgage lady in Columbia, MD),

Yes, I’ve received all 12 of your letters sent to me requesting I give you a call. I understand fully what services you provide and that you “might” be able to lower the amount of mortgage I am currently paying. But have you stopped to think and/or considered that I DON’T want/need my payment lowered. Especially as your little note so eloquently states what you ‘might” be able to do. Currently, I don’t feel the need to have you do a hard credit check on me based on possibility of lowering my mortgage. Now when you can guarantee something maybe, just maybe I’ll give you that call. But in the mean time, I respectfully request you stop sending me those dang on letters.

Kindest Regards,
CryThenLive

I've opted out of those promotional mailings too many times to count. But still I receive these letters and offerings........what was the point in my opting out if I'm still gonna receive the dang on things?

Dream house

I've been quietly house hunting for sometime now. Naw, I'm not moving anytime soon, or so says Mister. But a girl can wish right. So to keep in tune to what I want and can afford, I've been perusing a few real estate sights. I've set up accounts and saved a few places as favorites. Here is where I am now:

Our next move will be to something like this:

A townhouse is a better bet for us at the moment. Something with more storage space and an additional bedroom and bathroom. Most of the townhome communities have high HOA fees, we already pay a condo fee. So for more space we'd fork over a HOA, but hopefully we find someplace with more space and a lower HOA fee.

If the right single family house was available, we wouldn't pass up on that. Something along the lines of these:

But my dream house is a combination of these:

I want land........yep, I'll need at least 5 bedrooms and three bathrooms. A nice eat in kitchen with a formal dining room and a family room as well as a living room. And what's a big ole house without at least one fireplace right. And the master SUITE must have a bathroom with his and her sinks and a separate jacuzzi and shower.

A New BFF....seriously?

So I'm watching Making the Band on emptyTV, I mean MTV and a commerical comes on with Paris Hilton in a lounge chair saying something, then it cuts to bickering amongst some other chics, then cuts back to Paris, another shot of Paris saying something, then she says something to the effect of 18 applying, but only one can be her new BFF......WTF?

Really MTV is giving her a reality show in search of a new BFF?

Disgusted then cool.....

I've been emailing back anf forth with a few gal pals. It's the norm fo us. But one of them forwarded a link to this video of these two little girls cussing up a storm. Now I couldn't get thru the entire video truth be told, I stopped after 10 secs........I'm so saddened, mad, angry and DIS.freaking.GUSTED by the video. I'm almost in tears at the fact that a grown azz woman thought it would be a cute idea to video these cute little girls cursing and carrying on as if they were adults.........when is that cool. Let me get this straight, you think it's ok for your 5-9 year daughter, niece or young cousin to use such language? They can barely even pronounce the words correctly......hands on their unformed hips? Get the freak outta here. That is not cool. And when the freak are we gonna realize that we need to be accountable for the actions of our youth. Everything these damn kids do out in the streets, guess what their little azzes probably got it from home, yep their parents. And if their parents aren't the source, I still blame them for not correcting that crap. If that was my niece I'd...........ok, I'm calm

Come on people, how can your daughter respect others if her own mother/aunt/older female relative think it's cute for them to act like some common little hoodrat, with a mouth as fowl as a 10 year navy veteran.

I'm done ranting because thanks to another friend of that came group of gal pals. She forwarded a video link or two links shall I say that have calmed the beast I became when I saw that damn video.

Here are the videos:

and then she sent this one:

Love is what we need, love for GOD so we can love ourself and then love others........

Tuesday chuckle.....

Because I don't have anything else to post here's a joke a friend sent:

The Truth About Married Life .....

Three women friends, one in a casual relationship, one engaged to be married and one a long-time wife, met for drinks after work. The
conversation eventually drifted towards how best to spice up their sex lives. After much discussion, they decided to surprise their men by engaging in some S&M role playing.

The following week they met up again to compare notes. Sipping her drink, the single girl leered and said, 'Last Friday at the end of the work day I went to my boyfriend's office wearing a leather coat. When all the other people had left, I slipped out of it and all I had on was a leather bodice, black stockings and stiletto heels. He was so aroused that we made mad passionate love on his desk right then and there!’

The engaged woman giggled and said, 'That's pretty much my story! When my fiancĂ© got home last Friday, he found me waiting for him in a black mask, leather bodice, black hose and stiletto pumps. He was so turned on that we not only made love all night, he wants to move up our wedding date!’

The married woman put her glass down and said, 'I did a lot of planning. I made arrangements for the kids to stay over at Grandma's. I took a long scented-oil bath and then put on my best perfume. I slipped into a tight leather bodice, a black garter belt, black stockings and six-inch stilettos. I finished it off with a black mask, ready for action. When my husband got home from work, he grabbed a beer and the remote, sat down and yelled,' Hey, Batman, what's for dinner?'

What’s been up & weekend re-cap

I haven’t been much in the mood to post the past few days or so. The end of last week I was caught up in a funk. And I couldn’t find the inspiration to post anything.

My weekend was cool. I didn’t do much. Friday I did a list of tasks I wanted to complete over the weekend. And of course not much on that list was accomplished. I did take my book back to the library and I did iron one outfit to wear, which I’m wearing now. Other than those two items, I did nadda.

Saturday hubby was up early, and I couldn’t go back to sleep so I was forced to begin my day. I grab the sale ads for this week, my lap top and got back into bed. Hubby was back sooner than I expected so I started cleaning the kitchen counter and got rid of some unwanted and old papers. I finally left he house about 3 to drop some items off at the Salvation Army and make my run to Costco. I was back home by 6:30 pm.

Sunday was another day of lounging until my meeting with cousins and aunt for the family gathering. After that I returned home to prepare for the week.

Hope you had a better weekend.

Cho who? Cho what?

I attempted to turn in early last night but wound up watching more TV. Some how the TV wound up on VH-1 and The Cho Show was on. Now I’d caught an episode last week and thought it was funny. But couldn’t imagine it being funny two weeks in a row. Boy was I in for a treat. Or maybe I was in a silly mood last night and which has me laughing at any and every thing. At any rate so I watched it and it was indeed funny. But last week’s show was funnier.

Margaret Cho is this Asian comedian. I’d heard the name a few times before and my aunt has actually gone to see her at least once when she was in town. I never watched any of her performances, but apparently she’s funny.

In short, this week’s episode was about her, her crew the glam squad and her parents going off the grid. She wanted to experience life in the wilderness and heads off in a luxury RV to a spot some miles from Malibu. They pitch a tent and call t a night. The next morning they are off to find food, and run into actor Gary Busey. On the way back they find dumpsters and proceed to go thru the garbage for some vitals.

Last week’s show was her sponsoring/participating in a mother daughter pageant. So they set about finding contestants and judges while preparing them selves. Margaret is a contestant with her personal assistant/side kick Selene Luna. Take a gander:

This week's episode is #3, so I plan to check the TV guide and tune in for the duration of the show. And I suggest you check it out as well.

Yesterday’s Lunch

I decided to grab a salad from Cosi yesterday for lunch. I was abit disappointed, I think I’m gonna have to revise my lunch meal plan. Maybe I can incorporate a baked potato from the Potato Valley. It will give me a chance to get some exercise since I have to walk further and then the potato is less than the cost of the salad at Cosi.

Today I bought in a pasta salad I made last night. It was good last night, so I’m hoping it is as good today. I’ll have hot tea with it and a bag of corn chips.

My dinner menu is up in the air at the moment. Not sure what I want, although a crab cake would be nice. Mister was sick last night, so he might not be up to eating anything tonight.

Officially registered - Fall 08

The syllabus was finally available for viewing for the two classes I registered for:

ACCT 411: Ethics and Professionalism in Accounting (3)

ACCT 436: Internal Auditing (3)

And of the two, it appeared that Internal Auditing would be the best choice as there was an additional individual paper due for the Ethics class on top if a group project and homework and weekly conference participation. And the book was cheaper.

So I dropped the Ethics class and paid for the Internal Auditing class and ordered my book. Of course I got a jump start on class participation by printing the syllabus, introducing myself in the conference room and lastly agreeing to have read the important course expectations.

Class begins Monday, so I'm trying to finish this last book I borrowed from the library. And I don't plan on doing any leisure reading this semester. This class requries quite abit of reading and I might actually wind up spending time at the library.

Weekend recap

This weekend was cool. Nothing really kicked off, as I said I didn’t have any plans. Friday I left work about 3:30, and went home to relax and chill. And Saturday was here before I knew it. Mister got up for work and I couldn't get back to sleep, so I turned on the TV and got online. I spoke with my grandmother at length and finally left the house about 3. I went out to find something to wear to the party I was attending later that evening, only to return home empty handed. Once home, I still had the hefty task of washing and styling my hair.

Fast forward, I called my buddy about 10:30 to see if he was still going to the party and he was. And 45 minutes later I got a text from him and he had issues and wouldn’t be attending after all. So I was on my own. The party was decent, I saw a few people I hadn’t seen since I left NSU. The music was nice and it was a nice size crowd. I was home in the bed by 2:30 am.

Sunday, I woke up too dang on early but luckily I was able to get back to sleep after about 30 minutes of tossing and turning. Only to get a text invitation for brunch, and when I didn’t respond of course they had to call. But the meeting with my aunt and cousins prevented me from attending the brunch. So instead I got up and typed the notes from last week’s meeting. The meeting lasted much longer than I anticipated. In fact, I was there from 2 pm to 8 pm. My father dropped by for a few and then somehow we got to chit chatting about family history and other stuff.

Monday, not much of nothing…….mister and I went to the movies is how the day started. We went to see Babalon A. D. with Vin Diesel, ummmmmm, wait for the video. The action was decent but by the end of the movie I was like, WTF.

Hope you had a good holiday weekend!

You Are the Innovator

You're the type of person who is always a step ahead of everyone else.

You thrive when you're experimenting with new designs, ideas, and attitudes.

You are a creative person with many talents. You have to have artistic outlets in your life.

You need to create - whether it's writing furiously or redecorating your home. If not, your life becomes chaotic.

You tire of doing the same thing every day. You change your job, friends, and personal style often.

You are at your best when you have a focus. If not, you develop a flaky artist's temperament.

Labor Day weekend plans……………

here's how my weekend looks so far:

today – early departure from work………..goodie! I’ll probably head to the mall for some window shopping and then home to relax

Saturday – no real plans, pretty much play the day by ear and then I’ll be attending a party Saturday evening. I guess I'd better find time to do something to my hair and find something to wear.

Sunday – meeting again with cousin and aunt to finalize plans for a family get together, maybe I'll scoop up my niece and keep her for the rest of the day and night.

Monday – I need to log on and check syllabus for classes, pay for one class and drop the other.

Over the weekend I do plan to get in some house cleaning, washing clothes and preparing/ironing outfits for the work week. And hopefully I’ll have finished reading another book and can return two to the library and renew the other one I’ll still have out.

Fall registration

In this post I listed the course options I have for the fall semester. Well I finally registered and here are the two classes I registered for:

ACCT 411: Ethics and Professionalism in Accounting (3) Prerequisite: ACCT 311. Analysis and discussion of issues relating to ethics and professionalism in accounting. The AICPA Code of Professional Conduct and the reasoning, philosophy, and application of that code are examined.

ACCT 436: Internal Auditing (3) Prerequisite: ACCT 311. An introduction to internal auditing, its rapid growth, and its role in the modern corporation. Topics include internal auditing standards, scope, responsibilities, ethics, controls, techniques, and reporting practices. Consideration is given to the material included in the Certified Internal Auditor examination. Various techniques are used to study internal auditing theory and practice; these may include the use of problem sets, case studies, computer applications, and other materials.

I’m leaning more towards the internal auditing course. Since I got a B in the regular auditing class it would make sense to follow up with this course. Not too mention I’m sure this course would help me when I sit for the CPA exam.

Both classes start September 8 and run through December 14, which is about 13 weeks. I’m use to 16 week classes, but these are my options so I’m gonna have to make through. I can’t afford financially nor mentally to take both courses so I need to decide which one. The syllabus won’t be available for either class until Monday, and I plan to use that in determining which class to take. (I don’t want to take a class where the professor attempts to cram 16 weeks of learning into 13 weeks of class.) And payment is due Monday as well, so I'll have to make time on Monday to review all the information and make the final decision.

I’ve already looked into purchasing the book for internal auditing. The online intro from the professor provides a link to a website for purchasing the book, and it’s 105. I’ve checked around and e-bay has one auction for it that is now up to 86, and then amazon has the book as well for 105 but with free shipping. And UMUC online bookstore has the book used for 78.75.

The book for the ethics class is available used at UMUC online bookstore for 59.50. Amazon has it new for 76.45, but they are out of stock. Allbookstores.com has the book new for 84.95 and ebay doesn’t have it at all.
