Evening happenings......

So the day finally ended and I prepare to leave. I usually try to wait until my supervisor leaves just for GP, it looks good. Naw I aint doing jack, but it still looks good. At any rate 6:20 comes and I'm like time to jet. I pack up and make my way to the restroom then elevator. I proceed to walk to the metro station as normal. Only to get down the escalators to realize.........I drove. So I walks back to the building and catches the elevator downstairs to get my car. And so my weekend begins.

Well I have a final exam Sunday, so no real plans other than study til it's time for me to leave for the exam. But I'm thinking, since I'll be in the house all day tomorrow, might as well grab some snacks. So I head to the Giant in Largo. Damn near there, I'm like naw I'll just hit the GNC for some hair oil and then hit the Shoppers.

I go into Shoppers with sunflower seeds and popcorn on my mind and I wind up spending 22.78. It never fails, I go into the grocery store for one thing and leave with that one thing and two or three bags of other things. And this time they didn't even have the sunflower seeds I wanted.

So now I'm home, having had a salad, I'm allowing my pre-poo (shampoo) concoction to sit in my hair til hubby gets home to clean the sink for me to wash my hair. And he needs to get here soon, cause my movie starts in 4 minutes. Yep, I'm finally gonna see Three Can Play That Game.

A full stomach

oh what a good dinner I just had. And what did I have might you ask? Well let me tell you.....I had some crab balls and mashed potatoes. Now to others that might not seem like much of a meal, but for me......as the title stated, I have a full stomach.

But as an after thought I begin to think about an article I read on The Savvy Sista site about African American women and obesity. Based on the brief article 78% of black adults are overweight. I wouldn't consider myself obese more like a little healthy. But while researchers are studying Americans, why are they not studying the food and finding ways to produce food that is healthier. Personally, I think there are too many fingers pointing at the issue and not enough fingers pointing at solutions. Sure Americans could eat better, but the cost of the healthy food is much more expensive.

But I will admit that I'm not too big on exercising and I do prefer the quick unhealthy meals over meals that are healthier but take time to prepare. And I am trying to change my unhealthy eating habits and incorporating exercise into my weekly schedule.

One long day

Today has truly been a long day. I thought with my being out yesterday the last two days of this week would zoom by. Boy am I mistakened. I kept looking up and it wasn't even 12 noon yet. And now, 5 is taking it's time to get here. I need to be out of here........

Random thoughts:

* Thoughts of my grandmother still looming, but time heals all things. And I know my grandmother is in a better place. My youngest brother took my grandmother's passing harder than I thought. I'll have to be make a note to check on him this evening

* I have a final exam Sunday. I prepared my notes earlier this week, so I'll spend these next few days reviewing them in preparation.

* Do I really want to go to homecoming?

* I would really like to have a crabcake.

* What's for dinner tonight?

* Dang I still aint get my oil changed.

* It still aint 5

Thursday Thirteen - 4th edition

This edition is an ode to and for black shoes. My husband doesn't see the purpose of having more than three pairs of black shoes. Of course I beg to differ, there's the wedge, at least two types of loafers, varying textures and not too mention the heel height and style. At any rate as the summer begins to wind down, I'm forced to think about the fall and subsequently my work wardrobe. One of the few things I like about the fall/winter are the shoes. So I decided to have fun and present 13 pairs of black shoes for any career minded woman. Now of course not every woman would agree with my choices, so in the choices I present today I tried to stay on a middle ground, no real high heels and nothing too fancy. But as you'll see all of these black shoes are very different.

With out further ado:

now this shoe is cute to keep in the office when you are forced to do some walking and don't want to compromise too much style.


and this one is a nice basic black patent to accompany a black suit, it sorta breaks up all the black with it's shine.
this is a nice option for skirt suits.


next up is the classic mary jane shoe.......I really like this one because it is very stylish and not overly decorative and very sleek.

here's another black flat that's good for those that do alot of driving, but it's still very stylish and yeah it's different from the first shoe in that this shoe is adorned with a chain like decor versus the buckled used in the first shoe.


this is a nice shoe to wear with an A line skirt or a skirt suit long or short


this is one of two types of loafers, this is the plain loafer, modern sleek and would look nice with a pant suit

these textured loafer can be nicely pair with a plain suit to offer a hint of variety

this is nice option if you are wearing career separates, again very stylish


there is a difference between these twoboth are wedges with different stitching for the details, but still stylish




some company's allow employees to dress down on Friday's where jeans can be worn. These are nice booties that would pair nicely with some jeans and a top. Another option for jean Friday's, as I call it is:

So there you have it, 13 different pairs of black shoes for any career minded woman. Now pardon me while I go place my online order.........

Floral arrangements

I wanted to make some arrangements for my grandmother's memorial service. There were so many pre-made arrangements available in the store. But they were abit costly as well. Not too mention I wanted pour some love in to works created with my grandmother in mind. II found nice pre-arranged bushes and two floral containers on clearance. So I made my purchase and sat down Saturday to put in the work.

This is the first one I did, it is my favorite.

The next three required another trip to the store. And I surprised even myself with what the next two:

Overall, I enjoyed what I did and the end results. I showed the pictures to a few family members that liked them. And I'm sure my grandmother would appreciate the effort I put forth. I also ordered a sympathy arrangement from all the grand children to be delivered Wednesday morning.
