Tempted....

Well it's lunch time around my neck of the woods. And I had a 4 cheese Hot Pocket and now I'm sipping on some Plantation Mint tea. Can I just say I love this tea........when I first saw it I was insulted, here I am an African American and they had the nerve to keep this tea stocked. Well I got over it real quick, cause this tea is tasty. And I've been using brown sugar to sweeten my teas here at work.

So while warming up my hot pocket I looked over at the vending machine and the twizzlers were calling me. And I really wanted some as well, but I refuse, naw you dont get it I REFUSE to pay 85 cents for some twizzlers I could get from the CVS for 50 cents. Ok, so I'm being cheap.....

Moving on.......I'm still hungry. But I don't want to seem greedy by going to make that second hot pocket.......no one's really watching, but I'd feel greedy if I went back to eat it.

Hope you had a good lunch

Saucey......

At some point last week while perusing my usual blogs I came across a recipe. In fact this is the blog: Get’em Girls and this the recipe.

I knew right then and there I just had to try it. One I love salmon and I’d been on the look out for something to do with it at home. And two I simply love sauces, I mean they just add the perfect element to entrees. But of course I usually go overboard and require sauce with every bite.

So Saturday I went home to drop off my bags from Friday night and decided to devise a shopping list to pick up the items needed for this recipe. Yep, I actually had a shopping list.
First I was meeting a friend to loan her my Costco card. Yep, I believe in the sharing plan. As long as there’s no credit attached to my membership card, I’ll lend it to my responsible friends. At any rate I met up with said friend but decided I’d grab a few items as well since I was already there. Boy was I in for a shock, I thought the parking lot was BEAST, the lines were INCREDIBLE HULK busting at the seams. I handed my card over to my friend, threw the deuces up and walked out.

Next stop was the grocery store to pick up the items needed for this new sauce.Yum. Since I was in VA, I decided to hit up the Shoppers in Pentagon Row. And boy was that costly. It always amazes me how items at the same chain store cost different. This trip cost me $30.86……….and I still needed two more items. So head back around my way and grab those last items and get in the house to brew up my sauce. And might I say YUM again.

Yeah, I typed all of this up to say the sauce was that dang on good.

Perplexed no more

I had to call for assistance. Naw, I didn’t ask my supervisor for the help I got it from a friend. Actually, I did ask my supervisor one question. And I asked a co-worker to show me how to run a report. But the dozy of the task was figured and explained to me by said friend.

And now I’m sipping on hot Plantation Mint tea as if I don’t have schedules to prepare. In fact said schedules are due by C. O. B. today and it’s after 4 now……I’m such a slacker. But I must admit I work fairly well under pressure.

I just wanted to comeback and note the update……..now let me get to cracking.

Perplexed???

So if I haven’t mentioned it before I work in accounting/finance for non profit organization in DC. I’ve only been at the company for about 5 months now. When offered the position I was told that it would eventually evolve beyond what is listed as the job duties. Yeah tricky I know. At any rate, one of my duties is bank reconciliations for a small subsidiary of the larger company. And while I’ve done small bank recs in the past, say three jobs ago, I haven’t done any recently. But I sold myself in the interview saying accounting functions are like riding a bike, once you do it you can easily fall back in to doing it.

Now here I am, 5 months and so far the bank recs have been relatively easy. But August is a dozy and now I’m perplexed. I was here until 6:30 last night trying to figure it out and I figured I’d go home last night and pull out my old textbook and get a brief refresher. Well guess what I did when I got home………watch TV. Yikes…….so back at work now and I am still stuck.

Eventually I’ll either figure it out or go have my supervisor come in and help me with the tricky part I’m seeing. I know it’s simple but it’s one of those things that when you don’t see it on a consistent basis, you forget how you handled it previously.

Ok, so I’m off to settle this perplexed matter. Wish me luck in getting it on my own!

Have a great day.

.55 to .65

The vendor machine prices have gone up. The 25 cent size chips were 55 cents, but now they are up to 65 cents........this is a sure fire sign I need to continue brining in my own snacks......this is crazy......bad as I want a bag of Doritos, I REFUSE to pay 65 cents.......

It’s been a minute…..

Yeah I know it’s been a minute since I posted something substantial. Things got hectic for a hot sec last week. Friday I left work early and had a wedding to attend that evening in B-more. It was really nice. The bride (& groom) didn’t fall for the hoopla and go overboard. It was a really nice intimate wedding and reception. I think the room could hold about 100 people and about 70-75 were in attendance. The bride was pretty in a nice simple dress with a white lace overlay that was the train. Her hair and makeup were nicely done. The groom was sharp in his tux as was his groomsman, yeah hubby was one of them. I guess I should also mention the bridesmaids as they were nicely groomed and attired as well. At any rate, I bailed out about 11:30 to head back to the hotel near the airport, we didn’t want to make that drive all the way back home.

Hubby calls about an hour after I’d been in the room to say someone broke into his car…….busted the back passenger window and that created a long crack in the front window shield. So of course the rest of our weekend was a blower.

Saturday morning I got up watched some tv and call my niece to sing happy birthday to her. Of course she asked me to come pick her up. But I didn’t feel up to going thru the motions with her mother so I let that be for the day.

I finally left the hotel about 12 and headed to Arundel Mills with intentions on catching a matinee. But I couldn’t decide what to see, so I walked around for a few. I wound up in Bass with a pair of shoes in my hand trying desperately to get out of the store without purchasing them, and I made it. Only to get down to Kasper and buy a suit and some slacks……….after that I was done, it was time to head home. But since gas was cheap 3.09 I decided to fill up and then I even splurged and went thru the car wash.

Sunday, I called niecy again and even went to pick her up. My brother and I arranged for him to get her from me so that he could spend sometime with her for her birthday. Other than that I just watched tv.

Monday was much of the same, watched tv. Although I did leave the house to run to the RedBox since I had a free movie code and got Baby Mama with Tina Fey. Hubby went and got 88 minutes with Al Pacino later on.

Not much was on TV last night, I flipped between Raising the Bar on TNT and My Own Worst Enemy on NBC.

And now I’m here at work. Hope you had a great long weekend and having a great day so far.
