Meeting with gal pals

Cool....I just got a call from a former co-worker/gal pal and we are gonna meet this evening to catch up. the lat time we got together was for one of Tyler Perry's movies. Why we chose a movie to get together was beyond me, cause we stood outside afterwards for like 45 minutes trying to catch each other up. So when she called this time and suggested a movie again, I politely suggested we grab a bit to eat instead. That way we can actually catch up and not in a hurried manner.

So now I really have to put the move on getting some of my errands taken care of. Gotta go

Saturday morning ramblings......

Mister and I went to dinner last night. I have the half pond colossal crabcake with a baked potatoe and broccoli with red bell peppers. He had the parmesan and garlic tilapia with linguini. The food was good, but hubby said he's was abit on the bland side. The atmosphere was cool, although I expected a bigger crowd for Friday night.

I have a slew of things I need to take care of by tomorrow night:

  • WASH CLOTHES......I need to get at least 4 loads done
  • wash and style hair
  • floral arrangement for cousin
  • mail pictures and ribbon to aunt in Cali
  • iron clothes for the work week
  • return book to the library
  • clean and organize second room

So let me get started.........

Collard Greens In The Garden

An old black man lived alone in the country.
He wanted to dig his yearly collard green garden,
but it was always very hard work for him because the ground was hard.
His only son, Junebug Jankins, III, who used to help him, was in prison..

The old man wrote a letter to his son and described his predicament:
Dear Junebug Jankins the III,
I am feeling pretty bad because it looks like I won't be able to
plant my collard green garden this year.
I'm just getting too old to be digging up a garden plot.
If you were here my troubles would be over...
I know you would dig the plot for me.
Love, Dad

A few days later he received a letter from his son:
Dear Daddy Jankins, Whatever you do, don't dig up that garden.
That's where I buried the BODIES.
Love Junebug Jankins, III.

At 4 a.m. the next morning, FBI agents and local police arrived
and dug up the entire area without finding any bodies.
They apologized to the old man and left.

That same day the old man received another letter from his son.
Dear Daddy Jankins, You can go ahead and plant the collard greens now.
That's the best I could do under the circumstances. Love Junebug, III.

Robbed.......of sleep

Every week day morning my cell phone alarm goes off at 7:20am and then the alarm clock buzzes at 7:25 and lastly my cell goes off again at 7:40 am. I usually continue to lay in the bed until about 7:55 and begin my morning routine.

Well this morning a girlfriend called at 7:42 am, resulting in mybeing robbed of those last few minutes of sleep I usually to get in. And so my morning started and of course calling her back made me late.

Hope your morning start was much better.

3.56

My lunch today cost me $3.56. For that I got a slice of cheese pizza and a bag of Sun Chips (original). And I had bottle water in my office. So not bad, although frozen meals at the grocery store can run me about 1.00 to 2.59.

I'm going to devise a plan to lunch spending. Here's what I propose:

Once a week - Pizza and chip @ $3.56
Once a week - Salad @ $6.92
Three times a week - frozen meal @ $1 to 2.50

For a weekly total of $17.98 at the most. Of course I'll try to get the cheapest frozen meal to defray the costs. But this sounds workable for the moment.

Oh, of course I'll have to treat myself at least twice a month to Chop house for a crab cake. But what I'll do is stick to the above mentioned plan for once full month. And if I successfully get thru a full month without deviating from the plan, then the next month I get to treat myself to a crabcake twice. Yeah, that's sounds feasible.

Grooving

I've been listening to Noel Gourdin's cd for the past few days now and I'm really feeling it. I love the sound and his voice. Of the 13 songs on the cd my favorite tracks are:

#3 - The River, the first time I heard this song I was like yeah, this is music

#2 - Better Man
#6 - Led You On
#11 - Summertime
#10 - Sorry
#1 - One Love
#9 P. Y. T, has a nice funky groove

Overall this is really a good cd and will probably stay in rotation. If you haven't, check the cd out.

Office Observation

I see something out of the corner of my eye move. So I look over at my office door and just outside my neighbor's office something's on the floor, I lean to my left to get a better view and I see a baby sitting on the floor. For real? you have your baby sitting and crawling around on the carpet of the office? Naw, sorry I can't do it.

Ok, I'm back......the baby crawled in my office just as I was typing and then his mother comes in and so does others that are in the vicinity. I'm gonna need them to get back to work or whatever they were doing before congregating in and near my office.

Dang, here comes all the baby talk......ok they are walking away........back to reading my blogs.

God's Cake

Sometimes we wonder, 'What did I do to deserve this?' or 'Why did God have to do this to me?' Here is a wonderful explanation!

A daughter is telling her Mother how everything is going wrong, she's failing algebra, her boyfriend broke up with her and her best friend is moving away.
Meanwhile, her Mother is baking a cake and asks her daughter if she would like a snack, and the daughter says, 'Absolutely Mom, I love your cake.'

'Here, have some cooking oil,' her Mother offers. 'Yuck' says her daughter. 'How about a couple raw eggs?' 'Gross, Mom!' 'Would you like some flour then? Or maybe baking soda?' 'Mom, those are all yucky!'

To which the mother replies: 'Yes, all those things seem bad all by themselves. But when they are put together in the right way, they make a wonderfully delicious cake! '

God works the same way. Many times we wonder why He would let us go through such bad and difficult times. But God knows that when He puts these things all in His order, they always work for good! We just have to trust Him and, eventually, they will all make something wonderful!

God is crazy about you. He sends you flowers every spring and a sunrise every morning. Whenever you want to talk, He'll listen. He can live anywhere in the universe, and He chose your heart.

If you like this, send this on to the people you really care about. Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we are here we might as well dance.

Waiting.......

I sent my friend an e-mail and text asking if we are still on for happy hour tonight. She responded saying yeah and she'd hit me when she gets home. Once home she texts me and tells me we are still on and we'd meet at 7. I respond that I drove in and will wait here at work until she's on her way and will meet her there, so for her to text me when she gets in her car. I'm still here at work, waiting for my friend to call/text and tell me she's on her way to the place. IT'S 6:41 pm.........

Not a good day

My day has not been good. I was super late this morning and had to drive in. I've been cramping bad all morning. And then just as the cramps subside, tiredness kicks in and not feeling up to do anything. I haven't even read all the blogs I subscribe to.

I'm supposed to go to happy hour tonight, but I haven't heard from my friend. So if not, I'm cool I can run home and curl up in the bed.

I finished my book during lunch. A book review is forth coming. It was such a page turner in the end.

My Saturday lunch plans with girlfriends has fallen through, so I have nothing to do. I'm contemplating scheduling an acupuncture session, or maybe a massage with reflexology. I'll have to check my funds.

Sunday I'm meeting with my aunt and cousin (father's side) to plan a get together next month for the family.

Still no word on the results of the final exam from Sunday past.

I need to remember I drove in today, so I won't head to the metro as I usual.

An hour and thirty left in my work day.

Hope you are having a better day than I.

Class options............

Once again I'm "thinking of a master plan, this aint nothing but sweat inside my hand".........ok, I have school on my mind. I need to devise a roadmap for the last classes to take to complete my degree. Here are my choices for:

This class is required:
ACCT 495: Contemporary Issues in Accounting Practice (3) (Intended as a final, capstone course to be taken in a student's last 15 credits.) Prerequisites: ACCT 311, 321 and 422 and BMGT 364. A study of accounting that integrates knowledge gained through previous coursework and experience and builds on that conceptual foundation through integrative analysis, practical application and critical thinking. Emerging issues in accounting, business transactions, and financing are considered. Web accounting and business technology, accounting theory, and management techniques are used to research and analyze developing issues in the workplace. Topics include e-commerce, financial derivatives, balanced scorecards, and the changing nature of financial reporting and risk management.

But I have the options for the other three courses to take. Here are the options:

ACCT 411: Ethics and Professionalism in Accounting (3) Prerequisite: ACCT 311. Analysis and discussion of issues relating to ethics and professionalism in accounting. The AICPA Code of Professional Conduct and the reasoning, philosophy, and application of that code are examined.

ACCT 426: Advanced Cost Accounting (3) Prerequisite: ACCT 321. A study of advanced cost accounting that emphasizes the managerial aspects of internal systems of recordkeeping, performance management, and control. Various techniques are used to study cost and managerial accounting practices and problems; these may include the use of problem sets, case studies, computer applications, and other materials.

ACCT 436: Internal Auditing (3) Prerequisite: ACCT 311. An introduction to internal auditing, its rapid growth, and its role in the modern corporation. Topics include internal auditing standards, scope, responsibilities, ethics, controls, techniques, and reporting practices. Consideration is given to the material included in the Certified Internal Auditor examination. Various techniques are used to study internal auditing theory and practice; these may include the use of problem sets, case studies, computer applications, and other materials.

ACCT 427: Advanced Auditing (3) Prerequisite: ACCT 422. An examination and a thorough study of special auditing topics. Topics include statistical sampling, information systems auditing, attestation standards, assurance services, and SEC accounting. Various techniques are used to study auditing theory and practice; these may include the use of problem sets, case studies, computer applications, and other materials.

ECON 430: Money and Banking (3) Prerequisites: ECON 201 and ECON 203. An examination of the structure of financial institutions and their role in providing money and near-money. Institutions, processes, and correlations analyzed include the functions of the Federal Reserve System, the techniques of central banks, the control of the supply of financial assets as a mechanism of stabilization policy, and the relationship of money and credit to economic activity and prices.

My choices have to be calculated and well thought out.

Lunchtime......

Looks like lunchtime is looming soon. Not sure what I'll have, but it'll have to be cheap and quick. I want to do some reading as well. I'm thinking Cosi might be my best choice. I could go grab a slice of pizza, but I don't have any cash and that would require a stop at the atm where I'd have to pay a fee.......I'll pass, Cosi it is.

I'll need to hit the grocery store this evening for some lunch meals to bring in. I only want to spend money on lunch once a week if that. And then once a month I'll have a crabcake from Chophouse. This will put a good dent in my spending habit.

Hope you are having a great day.

Security.....really?

I'm sat and watched "I Want to Work for Diddy" tonight. And I notice that as they are about to announce the contestant to be kicked off, they call for security. Is that really necessary? Diddy is being "extra" with this particular detail.

The downtown team anonymously chose Boris to be on the chopping block. He inturns selects Deon. Both of them pretty much took a back seat while the others were on the forefront during the phot shoot. But they decide that Deon is not ready to work for Diddy. It appeared to come down to him having prior advertising experiencing that was not used in the challenge. It was silly of him to have put that little tidbit of information out there during the voting. So it came as a surprised to everyone, particular since the challenge was for an advertisment print ad, of which he had direct experience. I think Boris should have been eliminated. He left his phone at the house as he went about the first portion of the challenge. I mean even I know the importance of an assistant being available when needed, and where was his phone? But the decision wasn't mines, so he's still in.

Schedule options……

As I mentioned in a previous post, I have to register for my next class by the end of the week. I’m hoping that I get the grade for the final I just took and then I could register for the next class in that process. I guess I should clarify that. Well I just took the final exam for Auditing, and then next class would be Internal Auditing. So if I do as well as I hoped then I’d take Internal, but if I just did ok I’ll take another class.

I have 4 classes left. So this is my plan:

One class August – December
One class October – February
One class January – May
One class March – June

Yeah there’s quite abit of overlapping there. But it’s essential in order for me to stay on course with finishing next year. A back up plan could/would be:

One class August – December
One class October – February
One class January – May
One class June – August

The backup plan would only have one overlapping session which would give me some breathing time. Either way it looks like I’d participate in the December 2009 graduation. Which do I choose……

which way do I go?

Your Gemstone Says...

You exude wealth and class. (Even if you're short on funds.)

You carry yourself well, and you have perfect manners.

You never seem desperate or trashy. You are admired for your sense of style.

You treat others well. In fact, many people aspire to be like you.

Done.....for now

I took the final today. I wasn't nervous as usual. So I'm hoping that's a good thing, but we shall see in a few when the grades are posted. For now, I have one week to decide on which class to take and register. Fall semester officially begins August 24 and I'll need to register for my next class by COB Friday. Until then.........I get to come home and do absolutely nothing for the next 7 days........So I'm hoping that I get to finish my book by the end of the week and start a new one once that one is done.

Happy reading and relaxing to me!
