You Are the Innovator

You're the type of person who is always a step ahead of everyone else.

You thrive when you're experimenting with new designs, ideas, and attitudes.

You are a creative person with many talents. You have to have artistic outlets in your life.

You need to create - whether it's writing furiously or redecorating your home. If not, your life becomes chaotic.

You tire of doing the same thing every day. You change your job, friends, and personal style often.

You are at your best when you have a focus. If not, you develop a flaky artist's temperament.

Labor Day weekend plans……………

here's how my weekend looks so far:

today – early departure from work………..goodie! I’ll probably head to the mall for some window shopping and then home to relax

Saturday – no real plans, pretty much play the day by ear and then I’ll be attending a party Saturday evening. I guess I'd better find time to do something to my hair and find something to wear.

Sunday – meeting again with cousin and aunt to finalize plans for a family get together, maybe I'll scoop up my niece and keep her for the rest of the day and night.

Monday – I need to log on and check syllabus for classes, pay for one class and drop the other.

Over the weekend I do plan to get in some house cleaning, washing clothes and preparing/ironing outfits for the work week. And hopefully I’ll have finished reading another book and can return two to the library and renew the other one I’ll still have out.

Fall registration

In this post I listed the course options I have for the fall semester. Well I finally registered and here are the two classes I registered for:

ACCT 411: Ethics and Professionalism in Accounting (3) Prerequisite: ACCT 311. Analysis and discussion of issues relating to ethics and professionalism in accounting. The AICPA Code of Professional Conduct and the reasoning, philosophy, and application of that code are examined.

ACCT 436: Internal Auditing (3) Prerequisite: ACCT 311. An introduction to internal auditing, its rapid growth, and its role in the modern corporation. Topics include internal auditing standards, scope, responsibilities, ethics, controls, techniques, and reporting practices. Consideration is given to the material included in the Certified Internal Auditor examination. Various techniques are used to study internal auditing theory and practice; these may include the use of problem sets, case studies, computer applications, and other materials.

I’m leaning more towards the internal auditing course. Since I got a B in the regular auditing class it would make sense to follow up with this course. Not too mention I’m sure this course would help me when I sit for the CPA exam.

Both classes start September 8 and run through December 14, which is about 13 weeks. I’m use to 16 week classes, but these are my options so I’m gonna have to make through. I can’t afford financially nor mentally to take both courses so I need to decide which one. The syllabus won’t be available for either class until Monday, and I plan to use that in determining which class to take. (I don’t want to take a class where the professor attempts to cram 16 weeks of learning into 13 weeks of class.) And payment is due Monday as well, so I'll have to make time on Monday to review all the information and make the final decision.

I’ve already looked into purchasing the book for internal auditing. The online intro from the professor provides a link to a website for purchasing the book, and it’s 105. I’ve checked around and e-bay has one auction for it that is now up to 86, and then amazon has the book as well for 105 but with free shipping. And UMUC online bookstore has the book used for 78.75.

The book for the ethics class is available used at UMUC online bookstore for 59.50. Amazon has it new for 76.45, but they are out of stock. Allbookstores.com has the book new for 84.95 and ebay doesn’t have it at all.

Chicken Parmesan

Guess what I made Mister for dinner last night……and he actually like it. The recipe didn’t suggest seasoning the chicken before breading it, so next time I’ll do that. Mister said it the sauce made up for the lack of seasoning on the chicken.

I don’t normally make things along that line, so it was definitely a feat for me. I think I’ll try something else next week. But I have to find something relatively easy that I can’t possibly mess up.

At any rate, I got a few things done last night before making the gourmet meal I made….LOL I washed that other load of clothes I needed and choose my outfit for today. But I didn’t iron it so I was rushing again this morning.

So I’m here at work now and I’m choosing to make this a great and productive work day.

Besides I’m meeting with the girls tonight for dinner. I’m oh so looking forward to seeing them. I haven’t seen them since I left the old job. Not too mention we are meeting at Cheesecake Factory and of course I already know what I’m gonna order:

No appetizer for me
Miso Salmon w/mashed potatoes
Vanilla Bean Cheesecake (to go)

Well I'm off to start my productive day........hope you have a good day as well.

Let it Go

I couldn't seem to fall asleep
There was so much on my mind
Searching for that peace
But the peace I could not find
So then I kneeled down to pray
Praying help me please
But then he said you don’t have to cry
Cause I’ll supply all your needs

As soon as I stop worrying,
Worrying how the story ends
I let go and I let God
Let God have His way
That’s when things start happening
When I stopped looking at back then
I let go and I let God
Let God Have his way

There’s so much going on
Sometimes I can’t find my way
And often times I struggle
Struggle from day to day
I have to realize that it’s not my battle
Not my battle to fight
I have to know if I put it in your hands
Everything will be alright

(Song: Let Go by Dewayne Woods)

This song has been on my heart since the first time I heard it. And every time I hear it and sing along I know I need to humbly go before God in prayer and ask for my healing. He knows the burdens I’m carrying, the pain I feel and my struggles. But until I Let Go and Let God, I will continue to carry those burdens, feel that pain and struggle.

Lunch menu

So last week I devised a plan/menu for my weekly lunches. And today will be the second day in a row I’ve bought in my lunch, so far so good. Tomorrow I think I’ll have a microwave popcorn and hot tea lunch, since I’m meeting friends for dinner at Cheesecake Factory. And then Thursday I’ll have pizza w/chips which would allow me to have a salad Friday. One of these weeks I’m gonna try bring in lunch everyday. That will certainly be a task, but I figure I can make a pasta salad one night and bring in leftovers.

Enjoy your lunch!

Yesterday Evening/Morning happenings

After catching the train to get my car, I decided to run and return some shoes I purchased for my baby niece. Of course as soon as I got in the store the sales were calling me. Nevertheless I escape the trappings and just returned the shoes with no new purchase. But I had at least two more stops. I need some rollers. I’d read online that satin covered sponge rollers would give a curly yet bouncy look to my hair. So I was off to the Wal-Mart hoping they had the rollers in stock for a reasonable price. I got in the store and headed straight for the health & beauty section. And of course being the product junkie I am, I couldn’t just walk past the soap and body wash aisle. I won’t bore you with all the details, so long story short I found the rollers and grab a bottle of daily hair moisturizer and got out of the store. Last stop was the gas station. And then I was home chilling ready to watch some TV.

Seeing as though I didn’t bother to iron anything to wear last night, this morning I was in a rush to find something to wear that needed little to no ironing in an attempt to get to work on time. And now I’m here at work and lunch time is looming near.

Hope your morning is going well.

What did I do?

As my work winds down, I'm trying to figure out what I did today. Seems I looked up and it was lunch time and now it's almost time to get out of here. I did a little work, but that was only within the past hour or so.

I worked on a family tree for my father's side. Rewind, I did a small portion of a family tree. It included my father's mother, her kids and then their kids and so forth. It was interesting. At first it was aggravating, because I couldn't figure out how to get it done in MS Word. Then I though it would be easier if done in MS Excel. Well I did a search and something came back for MS Powerpoint. So I prepared it in both Powerpoint and Word. After playing around in Powerpoint I figure out what I needed to do in Word. So I'm eager to share that with my cousin and aunt Sunday when we meet again to fine tune the plans for our cookout in a few weeks.

Oh yeah, I did little research for table and chair rentals and goodie bags for the kids. Cool, I was abit productive today. Now I can rest easy, knowing that I was much of a slacker today.

Tomorrow I need to type up the notes taken at our meeting yesterday. They suggested I be the secretary.....go figure.......I don't like that title....so they then suggested Administrative Assistant.........naw,that didn't work either. Besides who am I the administrative assistant to? Well I informed them that my official title would be Technical Advisor. Yeah sounds prestigious but all I'll do is the administrative/secretary tasks, research and other detailed tasks. My aunt will be more of the coordinator and the treasurer.......I won't say anything........and my cousin will be the chairperson???? Yeah ok, whatever floats their boats.

At any rate, my supervisor just left, so I can stop playing like I'm busy and commence to slacking.

Doing the dance......

Yep, that's what I'm doing........I'm nodding my head and moving my shoulders to an imaginary beat. My morning fiasco has been resolved. Seems the name mix up is the culprit. And my final grade was........................................B

So I'm doing my dance, doing my dance, and doing my dance...........

Yeah, I know I'll call the school and find out how to get the name changed for the online classroom. I certainly don't want to go thru this again this upcoming semester.

FREAKIN OUT..........

I am damn near in tears right about now.......I'm so dang on furious it doesn't make any sense. I just checked my grade for the summer class I just completed and the official grade I was given is "FN". Yeah, side look is what I had as well. So I call the school and get ahold of someone in student advisment and was told that "FN" stands for failure due to none attendance. Yet another side look. So of course I'm shaking as I send my professor this e-mail:

Professor, I just checked my final grade and it states that I received a "FN" which means failure for no attandance. I'm not sure why this grade is my final grade and would like your assistance in understanding the grade I received from you for this past summer's class in Auditing. My class portfolio is complete with grades from every week's conference participation and homwork assignment's as well as the other projects assigned.

Your assistance is greatly appreciated.
cry_then_live

So I am nervously awaiting a response.......there has got to be a mix up.......I'm gonna try to calm down as I might know how this occurred. My online classroom has my maiden name, where as the school records have my married name. And to my credit, all assignments I submitted for grading had both my maiden and married name............so why.........

I sincerely hope this is the case and it is resolved quickly........cause I can't handle things like this.

Weekend recap

Here’s the list of items I needed to get done this weekend with notes:

->WASH CLOTHES......I need to get at least 4 loads done - *I washed and dried three loads, not bad but I’ll need to get another load done during the week*
->wash and style hair - *done, but didn’t last so I’ll be sporting a pony tail for the next 2-3 days*
->floral arrangement for cousin - *done and delivered to my aunts house for my cousin to pick up*
->mail pictures and ribbon to aunt in Cali - *nada, I’ll have to get his done during the week*
->iron clothes for the work week - *heck naw, hence my being late this morning, I’ll have to get this done tonight*
->return book to the library - *heck naw, I need to check to make sure the book isn’t over due*
->clean and organize second room - * heck naw, maybe this weekend I can get around to it*

So Saturday I pretty much lounged around all dang on day long doing nada, until I got a call to decide where to meet up with the girls. We decided on Outback. And we caught up on the happenings with each other. And made plans to meet to see the new Tyler Perry movie next month. We also said we have to get together at least every three months to catch up.

Yesterday I met with my aunt and cousin to start planning a family reunion. We are going to do it August 2009. But in the mean time and between time we are going to get together in a few weeks for a cookout. To let the family know we are trying to re-connect and rebuild the foundation of this being a strong family. Then I went to visit my mother in law. We had a nice chat without the mister rushing me. And once back home I didn’t do much, but read blogs, surf the net and watch TV. Spike TV premiered a good show last night. S. I. S. which stands for Special Investigation Service.

Well let me get to work……..have a good day.
